The year was 2010. The global market for baby products was growing, but a gap remained between mass-produced items and those that truly prioritized the delicate needs of infants. Our founder, a parent themselves, experienced this firsthand. Frustrated by the lack of options that combined superior quality, rigorous safety standards, and beautiful design at an accessible price point, the vision for Obibi was born. It started not in a boardroom, but in a small, sunlit workshop with a simple yet powerful goal: to create the kind of products they would confidently choose for their own child.
Our initial team comprised a handful of skilled artisans and a passionate designer. We began by producing a limited line of organic cotton baby bodysuits and blankets. Every piece was crafted with meticulous attention to detail. We sourced the softest GOTS-certified organic cotton, developed patterns that allowed for maximum movement and comfort, and used only safety-certified, hypoallergenic dyes. Word began to spread among local boutiques and discerning parents. The feedback was clear: there was a hunger for this level of quality and care.
This initial phase was defined by learning and adaptation. We invested in understanding the nuances of infant physiology—how their skin breathes, how their bodies regulate temperature, and what textures provide the greatest comfort. This period solidified our core R&D principle: to design from the perspective of the baby. It was during these formative years that we established the foundational values that still guide us today: Quality without Compromise, Safety as a Prerequisite, and Innovation Driven by Empathy.
